Patricia L. Highcove, MS, CRC, CVE, CCM, is the owner and vocational consultant at Highcove Consulting. The consulting firm offers clients vocational counseling services, including resources for developmentally disabled individuals. Ms. Highcove spends her days counseling individuals and assessing their needs and skill levels, and assisting them and referring them for various training in different industries. She works with her clients on their interview skills by role-playing an interview scenario so that they can represent themselves during an interview. The training she provides enables her clients to individually receive a skill base in a profession or industry that will enable them to get back to work.
Ms. Highcove’s clients are referred to her through insurance companies that are dealing with injured individuals that claim workers’ compensation after orthopedic injuries. Ms. Highcove has a proven track record of helping people get back on their feet and back to work. She enjoys being able to make a difference in people’s lives and is grateful for the opportunities she has been presented with throughout her own career. Her passion has allowed her to become a leader in the industry over the past 38 years, and she hopes to continue expanding her business and working with more clients for years to come.
Ms. Highcove has dedicated more than 25 years of service to the field of vocation counseling. She gained an interest in the field after working with developmentally disabled children. The work inspired her to pursue a career that would give her the opportunity to improve their quality of life. Throughout her illustrious career, Ms. Highcove served as a student assistant at the Vocational Assessment and Career Center, vocational evaluator at Merrimack Valley Rehabilitation Center, counselor and evaluator at Alliance, Inc., and rehabilitation specialist IV at the Maryland Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Highcove was also a rehabilitation specialist, field service manager and territory director at Intracorp, and senior executive at The Guilford Group before venturing out on her own. Her past experience has given her the skills and knowledge she needs to successfully run her business. Highcove Consulting has been operational for over 20 years and has helped countless clients get their lives back on track over the years.
A certified case manager, rehabilitation counselor, and vocational evaluator, Ms. Highcove earned a Master of Science in rehabilitation counseling and a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation services at Syracuse University. She stays abreast of changes in her field through her affiliation with the Chesapeake Association of Rehabilitation Professionals in the Private Sector, International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, and Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. Ms. Highcove is also actively involved with the Special Olympics.
